Help me build the new me

If you'll look around, you'll see that I'm trying to revamp/streamline this site.  It's just felt cluttered for a long time, and I haven't updated some of the books and CD links in months.  So rather than letting it fester any longer, I took out anything I'm not really using now.

One thing I really want to get better about is the link love.  I am going to try and build a good blogroll that accurately reflects other blogs in this corner of the blogosphere.  So if you feel like you would qualify, please leave a link in the comments section below and I will add you accordingly.

Hi Mark - sorry I'm late dropping in...playing computer catch up this morning while the kids are quietly watching Saturday morning cartoons. Not sure mine fits in with the music scene at all, fits more with Stephanie's Desperate Housewifing :) But I did sing in a band...back in the dinosaur days after I graduated from McEachern, of course now I sing lullabies...does that count?

Traci, I was just thinking the same thing. I didn't think I used that feature, but it's pretty key. Working on it...

Since we're talking about the new look, can I say that I miss the RECENT COMMENTS section. I like to read what other people are saying about what you're saying. =)

Holy Cow! Talk about change! Totally different and I like it. I'm thinking I need to update my theme as well, but I haven't gotten around to it. I want to let it sit a little longer and then change it up.

I'm over at http://samuelfebres.com/blog

Daniel, I totally agree. I love the simplicity of this look, but the fonts and colors are so hard to read.

Look for things to change (again!) in the next couple of days!

i would love some love mark :)

I'd be honored to be on the roll (and when it's called up yonder too)

http://aliensoil.blogspot.com

BTW, I love the fact that you're changing up the look around here but it's sometimes a bit hard to read (color-scheme, I guess). i mean that with the utmost love. :-)

No resumes necessary :)

Basically, if you think you qualify, then you qualify!

So how does one qualify? Send in a resume?!

Worship pastor
Rock guitarist
Cre:ate attender
Buyer of Third Day CDs

Will that do?

Not sure which corner this is, but here I am. Understanding the Struggle.

I would be honored to be rolled by the guitarist from 3rd Day!!

"Serendipity" http://scopeland.blogspot.com

Third Day Pix would LOVE a link.

Are you going to have a special 3D Theme Section?

http://thirddaypix.blogspot.com/

Hey Mark, I'd love to stay on the list! Thanks bud!

I love being part of your blog world.
I must shamefully admit that I was using your old book list and never wrote it down or copied it for myself. Can you do a post on 'Of all the books I've read before?' (to the tune of 'Of all the girls I've loved before...')

Will it help if I say all kind of nice things about you, Mark? :-) Us Marietta boys have to stick together.

Not sure if I qualify, but I'd like to throw my name in the hat.

Thanks!

Regular reader and we're linked to you already. The new digs look good!

    • The Rolling Stones -

The Rolling Stones: Shine a Light: Original Soundtrack
This is what a live album SHOULD sound like. Unedited, unfixed - just a good recording of what happened that night... (****)

    • Mudcrutch -

      Mudcrutch: Mudcrutch
Tom Petty and Mike Campbell reunite with their old band and forge an instant classic. (****)

    • Counting Crows -

Counting Crows: Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings
It was pretty gutsy to lay it out the way they did: all the rockers on the "Saturday Night" section and all the ballads on the "Sunday Morning" side. But it works, and in a major way. Some of the best guitar work I've heard in recent memory. (*****)

    • The Black Crowes -

The Black Crowes: The Lost Crowes
WHY DIDN'T ANYBODY TELL ME ABOUT THIS RECORD?! You've heard most of these songs on other records, but it's just so raw and band-y here. Fall in love with the best band in the world all over again... (*****)

    • Pillar -

Pillar: For The Love Of The Game
So far this is the album to beat for the rock album of 2008 in the Christian market... The title track has kind of been my "theme song" the last couple of months. (*****)

    • Maylene and the Sons of Disaster -

Maylene and the Sons of Disaster: II
The perfect blend of Southern rock and metal - this is my favorite album right now. (*****)

    • Kevn Kinney -

Kevn Kinney: Broken Hearts & Auto Parts
I picked this up in Athens the other day. It starts out a little slow, but turns into vintage Kevn Kinney/Drivin n Cryin. This is as good as anything he/they have ever put out! (****)

    • The Black Crowes -

      The Black Crowes: Warpaint
If you look up "killer" in the dictionary, you will find a picture of these guys.

    • Baroness -

      Baroness: Red Album
So far the most original and inspiring music I've heard this year... (*****)

    • Down -

Down: Down - Over The Under
This is easily the most rockin' records I've ever owned. It's like redneck Soundgarden. Heaven for a dude like me... (*****)

    • Demon Hunter -

Demon Hunter: Storm the Gates of Hell
Don't let the "metalcore" label fool you. This album features some of the biggest and hookiest choruses you'll ever hear. "Lead Us Home", "Carry Me Down", and "Thorns" are great examples. Plus I think they'll give you your money back if the title track doesn't make your ears bleed :) (*****)
