Remember me?

Hi, my name is Mark Lee. Perhaps you remember me from previous blog posts. Or maybe you've seen me recently on tour with my band. Not Nuclear Hoedown - the other one. Or maybe you just stopped by because I have a blog post that shares title with the opening line of a disgusting joke (just trust me on that one). At any rate, you may or may not have noticed that I haven't blogged in 10 days. I wish I could tell you something hip like I was taking a "tech fast". Heck, I wish I was slick and organized enough to notice the need for a tech fast. But man, 10 days is like, forever in blog days. I'm sure there's a statistic somewhere that somebody slick and tech-fast worthy has come up with about how to convert blog days to real time. But I'm not the guy, and this isn't the place to figure that out.

There's a scene in Spinal Tap (haven't scene it? It was recently awarded the BEST MOVIE EVER.) where they ask singer David St. Hubbins why the crowds at Spinal Tap shows have gotten smaller. His reply? "Our audience has become more selective."

If you're still here, count yourself among the selective...

Wow,that was a random blog, but I liked it. :) But I haven't checked here in a few, so I'm woefully behind now that you're back to blogging. LOL I haven't seen Spinal Tap, I'm also woefully behind on watching movies, and American Idol. Someday...

I am only here because this blog goes to 11.

I do enjoy your blog... I believe virtually everything I read, and I think that is what makes me more of a selective human than someone who doesn't believe anything.

No worries Mark do what you have to do, I knew you would show up sooner or later after flying your broken kite, glad you were enjoying your family time. welcome back!

It's natural to have lags between posts sometimes, for whatever reason. Anybody who's been blogging for any amount of time is familiar with that. I just keep you in my feed reader and when a post pops up, I check it out.

And, I'll use this comment to also remind you that I'm looking forward to your next trip to the PNW!

Yeppers I remember you...you're THAT guy right? :-)

yea dude...i remember you...your that guy...:)

I was this close >< to giving up on you returning lol!!

Hey........we missed you man! Don't be a stranger!!

"Enter witty comment here".....

Dont have one.

Love ya Mark. Keep on shinin'.

I only notice when you post blogs because it tells me when you import them into Facebook, lol. I don't notice if you haven't posted any recently. I just like reading about whats going on in the rest of the world. I live in Orangevale, and a saying around here is that we live in a little invisible plastic bubble. It's a place where the rest of the world seems very distant, even if it's only about 10 minutes from Sacramento.

10 days is a long time. But, blog breaks can be good - if not heathy at times. Welcome back!

    What's in my CD player

    • R.E.M. -

      R.E.M.: Accelerate CD/DVD
Athens' own return with a trashy cool offering - their most consistent album in years. I think they're mad at their dad or something (****)

    • The Rolling Stones -

The Rolling Stones: Shine a Light: Original Soundtrack
This is what a live album SHOULD sound like. Unedited, unfixed - just a good recording of what happened that night... (****)

    • Mudcrutch -

      Mudcrutch: Mudcrutch
Tom Petty and Mike Campbell reunite with their old band and forge an instant classic. (****)

    • Counting Crows -

Counting Crows: Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings
It was pretty gutsy to lay it out the way they did: all the rockers on the "Saturday Night" section and all the ballads on the "Sunday Morning" side. But it works, and in a major way. Some of the best guitar work I've heard in recent memory. (*****)

    • The Black Crowes -

The Black Crowes: The Lost Crowes
WHY DIDN'T ANYBODY TELL ME ABOUT THIS RECORD?! You've heard most of these songs on other records, but it's just so raw and band-y here. Fall in love with the best band in the world all over again... (*****)

    • Pillar -

Pillar: For The Love Of The Game
So far this is the album to beat for the rock album of 2008 in the Christian market... The title track has kind of been my "theme song" the last couple of months. (*****)

    • Maylene and the Sons of Disaster -

Maylene and the Sons of Disaster: II
The perfect blend of Southern rock and metal - this is my favorite album right now. (*****)

    • Kevn Kinney -

Kevn Kinney: Broken Hearts & Auto Parts
I picked this up in Athens the other day. It starts out a little slow, but turns into vintage Kevn Kinney/Drivin n Cryin. This is as good as anything he/they have ever put out! (****)

    • The Black Crowes -

      The Black Crowes: Warpaint
If you look up "killer" in the dictionary, you will find a picture of these guys.

    • Baroness -

      Baroness: Red Album
So far the most original and inspiring music I've heard this year... (*****)

    • Down -

Down: Down - Over The Under
This is easily the most rockin' records I've ever owned. It's like redneck Soundgarden. Heaven for a dude like me... (*****)

    • Demon Hunter -

Demon Hunter: Storm the Gates of Hell
Don't let the "metalcore" label fool you. This album features some of the biggest and hookiest choruses you'll ever hear. "Lead Us Home", "Carry Me Down", and "Thorns" are great examples. Plus I think they'll give you your money back if the title track doesn't make your ears bleed :) (*****)
