Two years ago, I spent a good portion of October getting in the Halloween spirit and pointing out some curious phenomenon. I thought I might throw out a few more this year. Being's how I'm in Alaska, famous for the Northern Lights, a post about mysterious lights seems appropriate.
The Brown Mountain Lights have intrigued visitors to the North Carolina mountains at least since the 1800's. Since I'm from not too far from there, I had heard of them.
But I hadn't heard of the Marfa lights until last night.
UFO's? Distant campfires? City lights reflecting off the atmosphere? Or what about swamp gas? I don't know, but it's interesting and somehow comforting to know that there are still things on the earth that we haven't figured out yet. Leaves room for faith to grow...

Savannah has mysterious 'orbs' downtown. But, i took some photos and I'm pretty sure it's just the lights around the squares downtown and office buildings shining through the oak tree limbs and leaves.
BTW, I went to Nashville a few weeks ago, it was awesome and I want to go back soon! Jack's BBQ...yummy :)

I ran across your blog and thought we had a lot in common - Merton and Mannning being two. I would love any input you have on my blog.

To experience a full Northern Lights show is something everyone should do if they ever have the chance. It's really indescribable. Northern Minnesota right above Duluth is a great place to go, when you can.
