No surprise on the Wesleyan front, as I grew up in a Methodist church. I suppose Mr. McLaren would be happy to know that "emergent" emerged as the leader.
(Thanks, Jason!)
(I present this for fun and discussion. Please, no argumentative emails..)

Yea, I am not Emergent!! Woohoo!!
You scored as Evangelical Holiness/Wesleyan. You are an evangelical in the Wesleyan tradition. You believe that God's grace enables you to choose to believe in him, even though you yourself are totally depraved. The gift of the Holy Spirit gives you assurance of your salvation, and he also enables you to live the life of obedience to which God has called us. You are influenced heavly by John Wesley and the Methodists.

Even though I am a good Southern Baptist, I wasn't suprised to see I was way up there on the Emergent/Postmodern category. I guess that's handy since most modern theologians say this is where the church is going. I think Marcus Borg does an excellent job of showing how the "emerging paradigm" looks in his book The Heart of Christianity.
Of course, having seen Celtic Christianity first hand I have a sneaky suspicion that the emerging paradigm isn't as new as most fundmentalist would like us to think.

Wow! I have to say that I was surprised by the results. Thanks for the quiz.

Wow Mark! You've got a lot of people from the Wesleyan camp on your blog. I'm a Methodist, and apparently over the years I've been given (and understood) a lot of our doctrine. I had to google the two people who were mentioned in the questions. Bishop Spong denies a lot of what the church has stood for for 2000 years. I wouldn't have known that without reading a bit about him.

Hey Mark. Great show at AF. I liked the black and white hat too. :)

I scored as mainly "emergent/postmodern".

I don't know if it's too much of a surprise--my parents were Methodist, and I go to a non-denomonational church.

On the "emergent" front, I answered some of those probably slightly differently than I would have before I read "A New Kind of Christian". I find that really interesting.

MARK! Great show last night at AF! :D Now, if you'd quit moving, I coulda got some good shots of you. :p ;) Never fear, my fellow Gomazzi will mooch me their pics. Like the Nuclear Hoedown/FREEBIRD/ATH/Git-r-Done signs? Hehehe. I have no idea what that quiz means but my results are as follws...

Well, here's mine! Seeing as my background is Free Church of Scotland - full on Calvinist - it's hardly surprising that I rated so highly on the Reformed Evangelical front! I was quite surprised that I came out so highly in the Emergent/Postmodern department! Don't worry too much about the Fundamentalist thing, Traci! I'm right behind you!

Still trying to recover from Frenzy! Great pics on the 3D boards. Shame Tai had his kilt on the wrong way round.... Hahahah!

My highest was in Evangelical Holiness/Wesleyan at 71%

I wing quizes LOL. I do know that I am a fairly newbie Christian. My family left the Catholic Church in my pre-teen years, so I was raised my teen years searching (as my mother was introducing me to crystals, and bizarre new age stuff). Funny, and I definately have to check into why I scored how I did...I found my way back to a Baptist church a few years back and have faith in what I have faith in...

You scored as Evangelical Holiness/Wesleyan.

Thanks Jason and Mark for this neat quiz! My results weren't all that surprising but I loved having to read the questions.

I tend to overthink these quiz questions, so I don't know how accurate this is, but here are my results:

Emergent/Postmodern 86%
Evangelical Holiness/Wesleyan 82%
Fundamentalist 71%
Charismatic/Pentecostal 57%
Modern Liberal 54%
Classical Liberal 50%
Reformed Evangelical 50%

Roman Catholic 21%

The 71% Fundamentalist makes me look bad, doesn't it? Can you be fundamental in your belief, but not in your approach?
As for the Charismatic/Pentacostal number; my grandmother loved to visit Pentacostal churches when I was a child. I suppose some of it stuck.
Food for thought....

It was pretty gutsy to lay it out the way they did: all the rockers on the "Saturday Night" section and all the ballads on the "Sunday Morning" side. But it works, and in a major way. Some of the best guitar work I've heard in recent memory. (*****)

WHY DIDN'T ANYBODY TELL ME ABOUT THIS RECORD?! You've heard most of these songs on other records, but it's just so raw and band-y here. Fall in love with the best band in the world all over again... (*****)

Don't let the "metalcore" label fool you. This album features some of the biggest and hookiest choruses you'll ever hear. "Lead Us Home", "Carry Me Down", and "Thorns" are great examples. Plus I think they'll give you your money back if the title track doesn't make your ears bleed :) (*****)
